Teambuilding

Group Activities: The Bolger Center offers a variety of group activities that are fun-filled as well as educational. A group, for example, can spend part of their day developing their team building skills while playing ultimate Frisbee, basketball or volleyball. These games teach communication, cooperation, and leadership…something every organization strives to achieve. Additionally, our location and property provide for a multitude of team-building experiences to enhance your program and the personal well-being of your attendees, such as:

  • Basketball
  • Bowling (at nearby facility)
  • Climbing Tower and Ropes Course*
  • Golf (at nearby course)
  • Horseshoes
  • Potato Sack Race
  • Tug-of-War
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Volleyball

Our fitness instructors will be happy to design a physical team-building experience that meets your needs and compliments your program. Please touch 7090 for more information.

*Ropes Course
Here at the William F. Bolger Center for Leadership Development we believe there are different ways to challenge groups and develop leadership skills while building teamwork. The ultimate test of a successful team building event is how well it carries over into the office. Our ropes course emphasizes risk-taking, trust, and coaching. This challenge allows participants to expand their comfort zones-sometimes dramatically-and recognize fears that may block personal achievement. Each moment is rich with discoveries, whether a person is climbing, supporting “on belay,” or finding an effective way to encourage a teammate. The William F. Bolger Center ropes course is comprised of the following activities:

Trust Fall
The trust fall is a powerful activity eliciting team support and trust, which is critical to the success of later events. Participants climb to the top of a platform and fall backwards into the upraised arms of their teammates, and are rocked gently before being lowered to the ground.

Pole Climb
The pole climb is an activity that participants climb a 25-foot pole, attempt to balance on the top, turn around and leap off. They are lowered to the ground on the safety ropes managed by his/her teammates. Not only are participants challenged to go beyond their comfort zone, but everyone experiences the exhilaration of watching others pursue and achieve goals that appear unattainable.

High Y
The high y activity is a partnering event that allows participants to experience the shift from “me” to “we” characteristics of successful alliances or partnerships. Participants negotiate a series of high, tight rope walks, first as individuals on separate “tension traverses” and then as pairs on a single “toggle traverse.”

Climbing Tower
The climbing tower is a team event that has three climbers working together to a climb a steep 40-foot wall. Participants must create a strategic plan, remain flexible when that plan meets reality, help each other through tough sections, and act decisively before they become fatigued.

We hope that you will take advantage of an opportunity to maximize your group’s team-building experience here at the Bolger Center.
